I met NYC for the first time by way of my 13th bday.
(as documented above) ;)
It was via a trip w/my Mom-mom & Pop-pop K, who bravely took their three 13 year old granddaughters to the Big Apple for the weekend, that I became spellbound by the city that never sleeps.
Although we did sleep -
in the amazing,
enchanting,
MAGICAL Marriott Marquis in Time Square.
And while I am aware I have a habit of describing most things as such,
trust me when I tell you, I really mean it this time.
.
The interior of this hotel would enthrall any young country eyes -
with its open, spacious, sky-high interior,
and entrancing glass "wonkavators" that shoot up-and-down an exposed elevator shaft formed in the center of the action.
In fact, after we had moved to NYC,
I took Matt there just to show him said illustrious elevators -
which we rode up to the top floor -
so I could additionally point out the storied revolving restaurant that he'd heard so much about -
with its 360 degree views of the city,
live ["loud like a washing machine" - Mom-mom] music,
and awesome mini-cheesecake-topped-by-chocolate-grand-piano-filled-with-berries that crowned their dessert menu circa 1993 ;)
.
Now,
18 years later :)
wouldn't you know -
the sommelier of that very restaurant,
is a regular coffee patron of my Mr's...
.
.
.
... so guess where we're going tonight :)
