... And Now We Wait.

I fell asleep Sunday night completely "damashed" (as my Mother would say) and woke up Monday morning to opportunity sitting in my gmail InBox. Just like that...

... just like that. :)

I've always loved interviews - you get to talk to people, share yourself, feel out new situations and possibilities - and all went well yesterday. Even if nothing comes of this opportunity, it feels WONDERFUL to have finally received recognition that I'm putting myself out there - I'M TRYING! - it's a huge lift to have a potential employer pause on your piece of paper and to finally feel "acknowledged".

I'm at a loss in how to convey to you all my gratitude for your reinforcement - you all have been such an amazing support system - comments, emails, good vibes (I've felt them all!). It's bananas! - most of us have never even met and you believe in me... it's humbling... and even under the guise of Audrey! - although it's eerie to peruse past iPhoto files (pre-camera failure) and feel like she and I aren't somehow connected...
... especially at heart.
(helps to also be able to crop and edit your photo B&W, lol) ;)

You're awesome.

Thank you. :)

Nothing Worth Doing is Ever Easy

... remember that. ;)

As it always seems to go, I'm not "blog-breaking" as I set out to do... :) Don't get me wrong, my follow-through skills are notoriously sharp in real life (lol), but when it comes to this little space of mine & I'm struck w/something, I can't help but think someone out there may also benefit from my own thought or feeling... we can't all be THAT different, right?!

Lola's show last night was wonderful - so many good people came from as far as PA to be present for her moment. She & I breezed through our set up despite numerous obstacles fate continued to hurl at us: inadequate lighting, managers being late for meeting times, electricity out until 7:30pm (on the dot mind you!)... I won't list them all (for there were more, lol) but each time a new obstacle aimed to dampen our forward motion we would remind ourselves, "Nothing worth doing is ever easy."

... and wouldn't you know, at the end of the day, it was worth it. :)

So I close this self-reflective week now, in that frame of mind, w/a treasured rendition of a powerful, personal song written by another powerful, personal hero: Jim Henson. :)

(Anyone ever see that episode of 30 Rock where they show the world through Kenneth's eyes and everyone is Muppets? I'm afraid I suffer the same vision problem, lol) :)

... this is dedicated to the one I love. ;)

Worth a Thousand Words

My Twittascope: Virgo
You are refreshed today by a supportive flow of feelings. It's as if you are a plant in dry soil now being nurtured by fresh rains. But it's challenging to maintain your crisp, analytical thinking when the waters of emotions start flowing. You might be tempted to shield yourself from the confusion of your own desires, but if you do you will lose out on the potential beauty and magic they can bring into your life...

... Twittascope is so wise.

Hey guys :) Would you believe I miss you? You should... ;)

This week so far has been a challenge for me - a healthy one yet to show itself I'm sure (... am I?) - but a challenge nonetheless. And I'm normally someone who enjoys a summons to contest so I'm trying to consistently remember that...
(Note to self: reward the patience of your husband, lol)

Must share w/you my excitement for oft-mentioned friend, photographer Lola G., and her 1st gallery opening tonight. :) She and I are headed over to the venue in a few hours to set up (one w/gallery-confidence I believe would call this "curating" but you know, we're just gonna wing it, lol) and doors open @ 7:30pm. If you're in the area PLEASE come by!:

(You get 3 guesses as to who made that flyer... and your 1st 2 don't count) ;)

I don't know if I ever shared w/you all the story of Lola finding her photographic eye: it came w/the passing of her Grandfather (just a few, short years ago) and his handing off of an old digital camera - nothing fancy, small eye-piece, slow zoom... and when loved ones pass, it's only natural for those grieving their loss to regard some of the most common objects left behind as treasure. It's as if these things remain infused w/their spirit; you "still have a piece of them".

Lola began walking around the neighborhood, Pop-pop's camera in hand, shooting random materials: peeling brick, mashed graffiti, puddles - things one wouldn't normally consider "beautiful"...

... but they were. And the more pictures she took, the more beauty emerged. And the more beauty emerged, the more her confidence soared. And the more her confidence soared, the more doors opened. And tonight, the real gift on display for the masses is a tangible collection of what's possible when one makes the choice to remain open in the face of difficult and trying times - be it death, accident, illness, broken heart or weary mind - if we don't make the conscious effort to overcome, how else can we discover the potential beauty and magic these curveballs have to bring into our lives?
(a wise "tweet" once said) ;)

For those w/3 day weekends this weekend, live it up - enjoy family, friends. And, of course, love the one you're with...

... I'll just be over here, going through your stuff (Jack Handey, couldn't resist - tension-breaker and all... this life stuff is heavy!) :)

I love you.

(I do.) :)
